From the series “Ad Infinitum” or إلى ما لا نهاية in Arabic, this project researches modern tessellation and geometric construction from centuries long gone. This particular print is based on geometric patterns in tiles from Marrakech in the 14th Century. It can be repeated perfectly to infinity and herein lies the reason for the series title.
Created several months ago from a selection of vintage comics sourced from travels around Morocco and Egypt. Mostly from the eighties these have been particularly hard to source in good condition as there is little love for these past a few reads. Prints from this series will be released in small editions of twelve, as a circle with twelve equal parts is the starting point for the traditional star pattern so common in arabic art.
